Location: Vientiane Capital and frequent travel to project sites

Reports to: GDA management team

Organization: Gender Development Association is a Non-Profit Association, plays a leading role on Gender Rights, and has been working throughout Lao PDR since 1991. GDA work is to empower women, men, adolescence girls and children to achieve the gender equity through joint actions, knowledge sharing and ending gender based violence and discrimination. GDA focuses on rights of vulnerable groups, especially women in rural communities throughout Lao PDR, as well as cooperation with our network for both national and international partners.

Job purpose: The Gender Project Officer works closely with the team to carry out the effective project implementation and to deliver the timely results of GDA’s activities and interventions.  The officer coordinates with all stakeholders of the project and liaise with relevant government agencies at district, provincial and the authorities at community level as well as national level if needed. She/he will also work closely with the government counterparts at local level and ensure the project outcomes are achieved.

Key responsibilities:

    Conducting and facilitating gender training and CEDAW workshops in line with the description of actions of project;

    Collaborating with Women’s Parliamentarian Caucus, Provincial People Assembly as well as other government partners,

    Collaborating with Helvetas, Association for Development of Women and Legal Education and INGOs, NPAs, etc.;

    Supporting the effective monitoring and evaluation of projects to meet with donors’ requirement;

    Assisting preparation of project progress and final reports as required by donors and Director;

    Attending meetings and events as required;

    Engaging other work as required.

Skills and Qualifications:

    Diploma degree or equivalent in Laws, VAW, community development and relevant fields;

    Minimum 2 years of professional working experience in the field of studies or related field, as well as experience in working at community level;

    Previous working experience with INGOs or NPAs and with team work, and in remote and isolated communities, etc.;

    Proof of understanding of gender context in Lao PDR;

    Evidence of working as a team and building relationships with diverse stakeholders, communities, ethnic groups;

    Very good English language skill, both written and orally;
