Gender Development Association Kicks Off Phase II of Gender Equality Project with MOA Signing Ceremony
The Gender Development Association (GDA) proudly announces the successful launch of Phase II of its “Gender Equality through Vocational and Entrepreneurship Education” project. The Inception Meeting and Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) Signing Ceremony took place in Xay District, Oudomxay Province, bringing together key stakeholders and partners to celebrate the next stage of this important initiative.
The event was attended by 19 participants, including representatives from the Oudomxay Lao Women’s Union, district head governors from Lar, Xay, and Baeng Districts, and other implementing partners. The gathering provided an opportunity to review the achievements of Phase I, introduce the goals of Phase II, and formalize the continuation of the project.
The ceremony began with a detailed presentation on the results of Phase I. Attendees were briefed on the project’s impact in targeted villages, the activities carried out, financial expenditures, and the successes and challenges encountered. A case study video showcased the positive changes in community perspectives on gender equality resulting from the first phase of the project.
Phase II of the project, set to run from August 2024 to June 2025, will expand its reach to 15 additional villages across Xay, Lar, and Baeng Districts. The new phase aims to enhance gender equality and empower communities by training village volunteers and raising awareness about gender issues. The expected outcomes include:
- Improved knowledge and advocacy skills among village-level volunteers.
- Increased community awareness about gender equality and violence prevention.
- Strengthened capacity of village administrations and local women’s unions.
The project is supported by Action Education and continues its collaboration with the Oudomxay Lao Women’s Union. With the MOA now signed, the Gender Development Association is committed to implementing Phase II according to plan, with a focus on driving positive change and empowering local communities.
Stay tuned for updates as we continue our work to promote gender equality and support community development through this crucial initiative.
